Sergeant Dwight L. Moore is a native of Grambling, Louisiana. He graduated from Grambling State University, majoring in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement. He continued his education at the University of Phoenix where he received his master’s degree in business management. His law enforcement career began with the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department as a detention officer in 1986. He continued his law enforcement career with the Houston Independent School District Police Department, in 1997. He was assigned various campuses with Bellaire High School being his last assigned campus after eight years. He was promoted to corporal in 2007. His duties consisted of patrol and later transferred to an administrative corporal. He was assigned policy and procedure, special projects, planning and research, training instructor, and he is a licensed advanced TCOLE instructor and school-based law enforcement instructor.
In 2010, he was promoted to sergeant where he worked patrol and campus operations. Sergeant Moore supervised up to 43 police officers and worked all districts to include high crime rate, low-income schools, diversity, and enriched communities. Sergeant Moore became an expert in school-based policing in the areas of Crisis Intervention, Mental Health, Community Oriented Policing, combating crime, hostage negotiator, through outstanding people skills. Sergeant Moore is a graduate of Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT).
At retirement in 2019, he continued his law enforcement career with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. He was assigned to their School Liaison Office at Clear Creek Independent School District. Today, he is a reserved duty continuing to serve our communities. Collectively, he has worked in law enforcement for over 30 years.
